Extremely popular with wildlife!! Colorful, large, grows to a height of approx. 25 ft., multiple stemmed shrub or small tree. White flowers in the spring, red fruit in the Fall. Prefers full sun, likes wide variety of soils. Excellent not only for birds, including grouse and cedar wax wigs, but pollinators such as caterpillar species and bees who love their nectar-rich flowers. It provides important cold-weather food to many animals, including black bears. Great shelter for small animals as well. If you have a Hawthorn, you have a lot going on in the way of wild wonderment.
