Meet the Candidates

Picture
Nate Brockman
I live in the Bayview area of Gladstone where I have resided for the past 40 years. I am retired from the beverage industry where I managed a wholesaler warehouse for 40 years.
I'm an avid sportsman spending most of my free time either on the water or in the woods.
I am a commissioner on the DCPRC where I have been involved in creating the 5 year Parks & Rec plan and working on other parks related projects.
I sat on the DCCD previously where I got involved to directly influence policy, promote forestry and wildlife, and ensure the community's voice was reflected in local land issues.
After 3 years of not being able to move forward with the seated board I resigned myself. At this election I see a path to elect some new members and move the district ahead in doing the things a Conservation District where meant to do.

Parker Grzybowski
My name is Parker Grzybowski and I am head of operations at the Gladstone Berry Farm. Conservation is important in my everyday life as a farmer, whether it is maintaining soil health for healthy plant growth or water management, ensuring irrigation is efficiently used with the least amount of waste. I believe I would be a good fit for the conservation board as I work directly with the environment every day and understand how even the smallest actions can affect the wider ecosystem.

Joe Kaplan
I was elected to the Delta Conservation District board in June 2023, running on a promise of accountability and transparency. My 40-year career has focused on migratory bird conservation -with an emphasis on the Common Loon - and invasive species management. My educational background includes a Natural Resources degree from Michigan State University, with training in applied animal husbandry and crop and soil science, as well as a Master's degree in Forestry from Michigan Technological University. If re-elected, my primary goal is to raise awareness through the district about the severe threats invasive species pose to our forests, rivers, and lakes, and provide landowners and citizens with the critical knowledge and tools needed to mitigate them.

Kathy Mason
My name is Kathy Mason; I am a CPA and a native of Escanaba. I am currently serving on the Conservation District Board, having been appointed to fill a vacant seat before being elected to continue serving. During the past year, I have gained a strong understanding of the district’s mission, programs, and responsibilities. I currently serve as Treasurer and am an active member of both the Finance Committee and the Policies and Governance Committee. > > My background in finance and extensive experience with non-profit organizations has been a valuable asset to the board, and I am committed to using my skills to support responsible stewardship of the district’s resources. I enjoy working collaboratively, am always willing to help where needed, and look forward to continuing to serve our community and the Conservation District.
