The Upper Peninsula Sportsmen’s Alliance (UPSA) is hosting 5 regional meetings throughout the Upper Peninsula to obtain information from U.P. sportsmen on how they feel about current hunting regulations and associated issues. According to Rory Mattson (UPSA secretary), if UPSA is suppose to represent the Upper Peninsula outdoor user, then your input is critical to what, where and how the organization prioritizes its direction.
Hunters, especially deer hunters seem to be complaining about their current recreational experience and the management of the deer herd. Hunters seem to have issues with predators, buck harvest, population numbers, baiting, feeding, blinds, habitat, etc. just to name a few. UPSA is seeking input from sportsmen on all issues involving game hunting and management so a majority decision can be made on specific issues as to direction and positive change.
These meetings are for the public and attendance is encouraged to establish a large representative sample. This is your chance to let your voice be heard in numbers that matter. These meetings are being held by sportsmen, for sportsmen to voice their opinions. There are NO preconceived outcomes planned for these meetings. Each meeting will be conducted to achieve hunter goals/objectives based on the majority.
Meetings are planned in several locations for convenience. Instead of just complaining, please attend one of these meetings, make a difference and help set a direction for an organized change based on the majority.
